U6–U10 · Whole team · 10 min

Every player has a ball and dribbles through as many cone gates as they can. Hundreds of touches and lots of fun for the youngest players, U6–U10.

Setup

  • A 25 × 25 yard area with 8–10 gates made from pairs of cones about 2 yards apart, spread out at different angles.
  • One ball per player.

How it works

  1. Players dribble anywhere in the area and go through as many gates as they can.
  2. You can't go through the same gate twice in a row.
  3. Play for 60 seconds, then everyone shouts their score.
  4. Rest, then go again and try to beat your score.

Coaching points

  • Little touches, ball close, so you can change direction any time.
  • Head up between gates to find the next free one.
  • Use both feet, and the inside and outside of each.

Progressions

  • Only the left foot (or right) for a round.
  • Add a 'shark' without a ball who tries to steal balls.
  • Do a skill move (a stop, a turn) after each gate.
