Getting Started
PlayIQ is an AI-powered youth soccer coaching platform. Coaches upload their practice plans as PDFs and AI extracts every drill automatically. Players receive the practice on their phones, can watch video demos, mark drills complete, and read coach feedback — all in one place. Clubs can manage multiple coaches and teams from a single dashboard.
For players and parents, yes — always. There's no paid plan on the player/parent side at all; the mobile and web app is free to use for the life of your account. Coaches pay for the coaching tools (practice planning, AI drill import, the team dashboard), and every coach plan starts with a 14-day free trial before any charge.
Yes, for coaches. Every coach plan includes a 14-day free trial. No credit card is required to start. You get full access to all features during the trial period — including AI Drill Import, player notifications, and the coaching dashboard. Players and parents never pay anything, trial or otherwise.
Coaches can use PlayIQ entirely from the web portal at playiq.ca/app on any browser. Players can use the web portal too, or download the Android app from Google Play. On iPhone, players can install PlayIQ as a Progressive Web App (PWA) by opening the site in Safari and tapping "Add to Home Screen." A native iOS app is on our roadmap.
PlayIQ is built specifically for youth soccer today — the AI, drill tags, coaching terminology, and field diagrams are all soccer-focused. Support for other team sports is planned for the future.
PlayIQ works on Android phones (via the Google Play app), any modern web browser on desktop or laptop (Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge), and iPhone or iPad (via Safari PWA — tap Share → Add to Home Screen). A native iOS app is coming.
For Coaches
After signing up, go to Teams and create your team. PlayIQ generates a 6-character invite code. Share that code with your players — they enter it when they sign up or join from their account screen. You can see the code and share it any time from your team settings.
Upload any PDF practice plan from the practice detail screen. Our AI reads the document, identifies each drill, extracts the name, duration, coaching points, and tags, and presents them as an editable draft. You review, adjust anything you want, then publish with one tap. Players are notified instantly. The whole process takes under a minute.
Text-based PDFs work best — these are PDFs created in Word, Google Docs, or other software where the text is selectable. Scanned image PDFs (photos of printed pages) may produce lower-quality results. The AI handles most standard coaching plan formats, including numbered drill lists, session plans, and periodization documents.
Yes. After AI extraction, every drill is fully editable — name, duration, description, coaching points, tags, and YouTube video link. You can also add new drills manually, reorder them, or delete drills before or after publishing.
Yes. Paste a YouTube URL into any drill and it will show as a video player with full controls in the player app. Players can watch technique demos before stepping on the pitch. You can also upload video files directly from Firebase Storage for drills where you have your own footage.
The moment you publish, every player on your team receives a push notification on their phone. The practice appears in their app immediately. Players can view all drills, watch video demos, read coaching points, and mark the session complete. You see real-time completions in your coach dashboard.
Open any practice and go to the Completions panel on the right. You'll see each player's name and the date and time they marked it complete. Players who haven't completed it yet won't appear in the list.
From the Completions panel on any practice, tap the feedback icon next to any player's name. Write your note — the player sees it the next time they open that practice in their app. Feedback is private between you and that player.
Yes. You can create multiple teams under your account and switch between them. Each team has its own practice list, player roster, invite code, and settings. All teams are included in your subscription — there's no per-team charge.
The AI Coaching Assistant (available from the AI Coach tab) lets you generate complete practice plans by describing a training focus, age group, and duration. It also has a chat mode for tactical questions, drill suggestions, and season planning. It uses your team's recent practices to avoid repeating drills, and generated plans can be added to your schedule in one click. AI Coach is an optional add-on on any paid plan — $59/month or $600/year — and you can add or remove it any time from Account → Subscription. It's available in the PlayIQ web app.
PlayIQ requires an internet connection for real-time sync, publishing, and notifications. The Android app may display previously loaded content briefly while offline, but full functionality requires connectivity. We recommend reviewing your session plan in advance if you expect limited field connectivity.
For Players & Parents
Players sign up at playiq.ca/app/player or on Android. After creating an account, they tap Join Team and enter the 6-character invite code their coach shared. They're in the team instantly and will see any published practices immediately.
Yes — each player needs their own PlayIQ account with a unique email address. For younger players who don't have their own email, parents can create an account using the family email address. The same account can be used by both the player and parent to view progress.
Yes. Parents log in using the same email and password as the player's account. From there, they can view assigned practices, drill details, coach feedback, and the Season Dashboard — which shows completion rate, streaks, and all feedback notes across the season. No separate parent account is needed.
Players open a practice, review all the drills, and tap Mark as Complete at the bottom of the practice. This records the completion with a timestamp and notifies the coach. Players can only submit completion once per practice.
The streak counter on the player home screen tracks how many practices in a row a player has completed. Missing a practice resets the current streak to zero, but the best streak is always shown. It's designed to encourage consistent training habits across the season.
The leaderboard on the player home screen ranks all players on the team by total practice completions this season (last 20 published practices). It's meant to encourage friendly competition. The current player is highlighted so they can see where they stand.
Coach feedback appears on the practice detail screen, just above the drill list. Players also see a full feedback timeline in their Season Dashboard, which shows every note the coach has left across the season.
Yes. Players can join multiple teams using different invite codes. They can switch between teams from their account screen or the team switcher in the app. Each team has its own practice list, history, and coach feedback.
The Season Dashboard (tap "View Season" on the player home screen) shows a player's full season summary: overall completion rate, current and best streak, a practice-by-practice history coloured green (done), red (missed), or blue (upcoming), and a timeline of all coach feedback notes. Parents use this to track their child's development over the season.
For Clubs & Organizations
The Coach Pro plan (CA$14.99/mo) is designed for a single independent coach managing one or more teams. Academy plans (Academy, Academy Pro, Club Elite, and up) are designed for multi-coach organizations where one club admin holds the subscription and additional coaches are added under shared billing. These plans include an org dashboard for the admin to see activity across all teams.
Subscribe to any Club plan, then go to Organization in your coach portal. Tap Create organization, give it a name, and you'll receive an 8-character enrollment code. Share this code with your coaches — they enter it on their Organization page to join your club and get access without needing their own Stripe subscription.
Share your club enrollment code with coaches. They sign up at playiq.ca/app/coach, start a free account, then go to Organization → Join an organization and enter the code. They get full coach access immediately, covered by your club subscription seat.
Each coach who joins your organization uses one seat. Academy covers up to 3 coaches, Academy Pro covers up to 10, and Club Elite covers up to 25 — Club Premier and Club Enterprise cover 50 and 100 respectively. The club admin does not count as one of these seats — the seat count applies to coaches you add under your org.
If you downgrade to a plan with fewer seats, coaches are automatically removed from the organization starting with the most recently joined. Removed coaches lose portal access but their account and team data are preserved. You can re-add them if you upgrade again.
Yes. The Club Dashboard (available to club admins) shows every team in your organization with the team name, coach, player count, number of published practices, and last active date. Summary cards show total players, seat usage, and total practices published across the whole club.
Yes. Each coach in your organization has their own separate coach portal, teams, players, and practices. The club admin can view aggregate stats but cannot edit another coach's content. Coaches work independently — the org structure is for billing and visibility only.
Yes — plans are up to 17% cheaper when billed annually compared to monthly. Annual billing is available at checkout and through the billing portal. You can see the exact annual price and savings on the pricing page.
Billing & Subscriptions
Your 14-day free trial starts the day you sign up. You won't be charged until you add a payment method and the trial period ends. If you don't add a payment method before the trial ends, your access will be paused until you subscribe.
Yes. You can cancel your subscription at any time from the billing portal in your account settings. After cancelling, your access continues until the end of the current billing period (month or year). There are no cancellation fees.
We don't offer prorated refunds for unused portions of a billing period. If you believe you've been charged in error, contact support@playiq.ca within 14 days and we'll review your case.
Yes. You can switch between monthly and annual billing from the Stripe billing portal at any time. Changes take effect at your next renewal date.
Go to Account → Manage billing. This opens the Stripe billing portal where you can update your credit card, view invoices, and manage your subscription.
PlayIQ accepts all major credit and debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) through Stripe. All transactions are secured by Stripe's PCI-compliant payment infrastructure. We do not store your card details.
Yes. Promo codes can be entered at the checkout screen when starting a subscription. If you have a code, enter it before completing your purchase — it cannot be applied retroactively.
Yes, all PlayIQ pricing is in Canadian dollars (CAD). Stripe handles currency conversion for international cards.
Technical & Privacy
Not yet — a native iOS app is on our roadmap. In the meantime, iPhone users can install PlayIQ as a Progressive Web App (PWA): open playiq.ca/app in Safari, tap the Share button, then tap Add to Home Screen. This gives a near-native experience with a home screen icon and full-screen view.
All data is stored in Google Firebase (Cloud Firestore and Firebase Storage), hosted on Google's secure cloud infrastructure. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest. Access is controlled by Firebase Security Rules that enforce role-based permissions — coaches can only see their own teams, players can only see their own practices and feedback.
No. PlayIQ does not sell personal information. Data is used only to operate and improve the service. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
PlayIQ uses Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) for push notifications. On Android, notifications are delivered natively. On web, push notifications work in Chrome and Edge when you have the portal open. Players are notified when a new practice is published or when a coach leaves feedback. Coaches are notified when a player completes a practice. You can manage notification settings from your device's system settings.
On the sign-in page, tap Forgot password and enter your email address. You'll receive a password reset link from Firebase Authentication. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.
You can delete your account from the Account screen in the app, or by emailing privacy@playiq.ca with the subject line "Delete My PlayIQ Account." See our Delete Account page for step-by-step instructions.
Data export is not currently available as a self-serve feature. If you need a copy of your data, contact privacy@playiq.ca and we'll assist you.
Email support@playiq.ca and we'll respond within 24 hours. For urgent issues, include "URGENT" in the subject line.
